Currently, the Tiago is available in 14 variants in Petrol and CNG fuel options. The Tiago XE is the base model Petrol/Manual variant while the XZ+ featuring a dual-tone roof is the top model Tiago currently available in India.
Initially, when it was launched, the Tata Tiago was the only car in its segment to feature a diesel engine. However, Tata discontinued the diesel in 2022 when the automaker launched the Tiago facelift. More recently, Tata launched the iCNG and NRG variants of the Tiago which are currently available in India along with the Petrol variant.
Tata launched the iCNG Tiago in 2022 while the NRG was launched more recently. You can get the Tiago in Manual & AMT transmissions powered by a 1.2-litre Revotron or CNG Phase-II engine in 2023.
- A dual-tone front and rear bumpers (available only in the top variants), projector headlamps, LED DRLs and a strikingly unique front grille with a chrome tri-arrow motif. As you move across the variants, the possibilities of exterior add-ons and features are widened.
- Tata has splashed a mellow amount of chrome garnishing at the front and at the rear. With the top variants, it is also possible to get chrome-lined door handles. All variants of the Tata Tiago however feature an integrated rear spoiler which adds to the sporty stance of the vehicle while also adding to the downforce at higher speeds.
Certain exterior features of the Tata Tiago are however reserved, only for the top variants. These include squircle wheel arches, LED ORVM turn indicators, contrast black roof & infinity black roof options, armoured front cladding, muscular tailgate finish, satin skid plates and integrated roof rails.
- The Tiago is genuinely tech-enabled with a massive 7-inch infotainment system adorning the centre of the dashboard. Although company-fitted, the touchscreen display actually packs wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for easy touchscreen integration while the steering-mounted controls allow a complete hands-free driving experience.
- The Tiago features an all-digital instrument cluster that displays the speedometer, gear shift indicator, two trip meters, and range & fuel average indicators. Inside, the Tiago packs a lot of storage space with two holders integrated into the centre console while all doors get map holder slots. The passenger-side glove box also integrates a tablet storage space while the cooled glove box helps keep drinks & beverages chilled during long drives.
- The Tiago however misses out on any charging port in the backseat. The Harman infotainment system is paired with an 8-speaker surround sound system providing a decent audio output without the need for any aftermarket upgrades.
- Similarly, the rear seat headrests are not adjustable although the Tiago gets a height-adjustable driver seat which helps you find the perfect driving position. Only the top variants of the Tiago get a keyless push-button start feature and electric tailgate release.
- ABS with EBD & cornering stability is standard across all variants of the Tata Tiago. Except for the base XE & XT variants, which get only parking sensors, all variants get a rear parking assistance camera which is fed into the infotainment system with integrated dynamic guidelines.
- All variants of the Tata Tiago are also equipped with seatbelt reminders at the front seats. Speed-dependent auto door locks activate at around 10kmph in all Tiago variants except the base XE model. The top three variants of the Tata Tiago also integrate front fog lamps & rear defoggers while a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System is exclusive to the Tiago XZ+.
- Tata also provides a puncture repair kit with all variants of the Tiago while a fire extinguisher is exclusive to the CNG variants only.
As stated earlier, the petrol Tiago makes the most power churning out a segment-leading 86PS of power at 6000RPM. However, what makes the Tata Tiago a fun-to-drive car is the 113NM of torque which the engine generates at a very low, 3300RPM. As a result, the engine renders peppy feedback and one can easily clock more than 150kmph on a clear stretch of road even with an iCNG Tiago.
The addition of a tilt-adjustable steering wheel and height-adjustable driver's seat also helps achieve the perfect driving position for drivers of any height. With adequate legroom both at the front & at the rear, the Tiago offers optimum drive comfort backed by peppy performance.
